Eighth-tier Marine land dream tie against Tottenham, Man United and holders Arsenal discover fate, Aston Villa host Liverpool


Eighth-tier Marine will face Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham in a mouthwatering showdown in the FA Cup third round, while fellow non-league side Chorley have been drawn at home to Wayne Rooney’s Derby.

Northern Premier League Division One club Marine play at Rossett Park, Merseyside and has a total capacity of 3,185.

The club’s official Twitter account was understandably very active following the dream draw, tweeting the message: ‘Mourinho at Marine! #COYM’.

There were 20 second round ties played out over the weekend with fellow minnows Stockport County also making it through to the glamour round, where they will entertain Premier League side West Ham United.

Meanwhile, FA Cup holders Arsenal host Newcastle in an all-Premier League tie as they begin their defence of the coveted trophy, while Aston Villa take on the reigning Premier League champions Liverpool.

Canvey Island or Boreham Wood will also battle it out to land a home tie against Championship side Millwall.

QPR and Fulham will also go head-to-head in a west London derby at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

All of the third round ties will be played between January 8-11.
